Youth Ambassadors for Environmental Sustainability

The Youth Ambassadors for Environmental Sustainability program is aimed at empowering high school students to participate in environmental sustainability activities within their school. The Youth Ambassadors will be predominantly past and present members of the Queensland Youth Environment Council (QYEC).

The QYEC members will provide Department of Environmental and Resource Management (DERM) educational resources for high school students, discuss career opportunities and provide links to DERM officers in the regions.

Other events may include:

a QYEC assembly presentation - a brief 15-minute presentation about the QYEC and how students can be involved, with a student question session to follow
'Green or Greedy' outdoor game - a life-size board game where students learn about ways to reduce their individual carbon footprint in an interactive and exciting way
support to school's environment club or sustainability group - assistance from the ambassador which is tailored to the stage of growth of your club or group
assistance with school's Sustainable Environment Management Plan (SEMP) - ambassadors can advise, assisting schools to complete their SEMP
Student Youth Forum - an opportunity for a facilitated discussion and dialogue on issues concerning the environment and sustainability in your school and the wider community.
