

Provides and supports quality education and training across the entire continuum of learning, through kindergarten, schooling, training and higher education. The department works in partnership with Australian Government, state and local government agencies, industry, parents and the community to deliver strong social and economic outcomes for all Queenslanders.
Established on 1 January 2009, ECEC is responsible for the provision of quality integrated early childhood education and care services for children from birth to 12 years in Queensland.
Provides high quality and accessible services to more than 480 000 students who attend over 1200 state schools from Prep to Year 12.
Responsible for the provision of programs to more than 240 000 students through 13 TAFE Institutes across 101 Queensland locations. It is also responsible for providing support to higher education providers.
The Department also regulates and funds the delivery of education and training through non-government providers.

The Department supports the Minister for Education and Industrial Relations
and the Minister for Employment, Skills and Mining
in meeting their obligations with respect to portfolio statutory bodies under enabling and related legislation. The Department also supports the statutory bodies through the administration of funding and grants.
