Proud, skilled and ready to teach
Advancing the employment, education and training of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians is a high priority for us. Teachers play a critical role in helping students achieve better outcomes and 'close the gap'.
The department has a commitment to increasing the number of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander teachers in our schools so that we can positively impact on the education of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. We have 1237 state schools across Queensland in urban, regional and remote locations.
You may be a newly graduated teacher considering your future options or a more experienced teacher thinking about a return to the classroom after an absence. We can support you through the teacher application process and in exploring your future options. We will work with you, as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander educators, to assist you in attaining employment.
Our Human Resources team includes experienced teaching staff who can provide information and advice to you.
