Natural disasters

The department aims to provide a safe and secure environment for all students, staff and volunteers who work or participate in state schools, TAFEs and workplaces.

Effective planning and management of emergencies helps minimise trauma and distress to those within schools and workplaces, and allows teaching and learning to be maintained or resumed as a priority.

It is important that schools, TAFEs, early childhood education and care centres and their communities remain alert to potential disasters such as cyclones, storms and other adverse weather events.

There are number of useful websites on natural disasters, current conditions and how to best prepare for such events.
