Learning in the early years

The Queensland and Australian governments are working together to provide every Queensland child with access to a quality early childhood education program. Read more about Getting ready for school.

The following initiatives recognise the important role that parents and carers play in their child's early learning, from birth through to Year 3:

Queensland Ready Readers
An army of Queensland Ready Readers is being enlisted to volunteer in schools across Queensland, with a special focus on improving early literacy.

Parent Ready Readers
The Queensland Ready Readers program has been extended to provide free reader training for parents and carers of Prep to Year 3 students to support their children's literacy development.

Reading awareness campaign
Find resources to help your child learn to love reading.

In addition, there is a growing list of high profile Queenslanders who are signing on to be Reading Ambassadors to encourage parents and carers to read to their children.
