Education reforms

Year 7

In 2015, Year 7 will become the first year of high school in Queensland. Read more about Year 7 joining high school in 2015.

Students will be well-supported as they begin Year 7 in high school. Read more about how Queensland state schools will phase-in Junior Secondary for Years 7, 8 and 9.

When will my child start high school?

Australian curriculum

Queensland schools adopted the Australian Curriculum for English, mathematics and science in 2012. The Year 7 reforms will mean that Queensland students will have access to high school specialist teachers, resources and facilities, like students from other states and territories.
