This project was suggested by the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Consultative Committee (QIECC) for funding under this submission. QIECC see this as an important need for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in south-east Queensland.
This project is a cross sectoral project based in South East Queensland where schools have identified difficulties in identifying and engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The project will work on a cluster approach i.e. Working with schools (6-8) who are attempting to access and engage with the same Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. It is an extension of the previous Dare to Lead Cluster Project, Moving Together.
This project aligns with the priority areas of leadership, quality teaching and workforce development and the engagement and connections required to increase capacity of schools to enhance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students' literacy and numeracy outcomes.
The project is managed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Schooling Support Unit Central Southern Queensland (ISSU CSQ) in partnership with Dare to Lead.
