Implementation

Queensland University of Technology's Stronger Smarter Institute External Link has been engaged by the Australian Government to deliver the initiative at the national level. The Institute will work in partnership with education providers and Indigenous Education Consultative Bodies at the state level to implement the initiative.

At the local level, the Institute will work with participating schools and the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to scan school improvement needs and develop a plan of action, known as a Next Steps Plan. The purpose of the Next Steps Plan is to outline planned activity over the next two years to improve the achievement, attendance and engagement outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Institute will work with schools over the life of the initiative to support the implementation of the Next Steps Plan by providing advice on methods that have proven effective in improving results for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
