Education services

The department, through our schools and early childhood centres, provide a range of services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to excel and gain the best start to life.

These services adopt a whole of community approach, where connectedness between schools, students, families and communities is key to improving attendance, retention and the achievements of Indigenous students.

The department's Indigenous education services provide support for students throughout the key junctures in their education. Pre-Prep provides an early learning program in remote Indigenous communities, Queensland primary and secondary schools are embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and the department offers a range of programs that support Indigenous students to transition from primary to secondary schooling and from Year 12 to further education and training and employment.
