Role of DETE and ACECQA

The Department of Education, Training and Employment(DETE)is the Regulatory Authority responsible for monitoring and quality assessing early childhood education and care services in Queensland. The department's Authorised Officers Adobe PDF document will continue to work with services in each region to support and monitor implementation of the law and to assess and rate services against the National Quality Standard External Link.

The Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) monitors national consistency and implementation of the National Quality Framework. This includes determination and maintenance of approved qualifications for the early childhood sector and assessment of services seeking to be rated as 'excellent'.

ACECQA has commenced operations and took over responsibility for determining approved early childhood qualifications on 1 January 2012.
