The early childhood education and care sector offers a range of opportunities for a rewarding and meaningful career. The below initiatives are currently available to assist people considering or seeking employment in early childhood education and care.
Assistance to become an early childhood teacher:
- Kindergarten Beyond the Range Program - will provide high-achieving pre-service teachers with financial assistance and support to undertake professional experience in a rural or remote location.
- Kindergarten teacher recognition - recognises existing early childhood teaching qualifications to enable teachers to teach or lead an approved kindergarten program.
Assistance to become a qualified early childhood educator:
- TAFE Fee Waiver Program - subsidises tuition fees for the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Children's Services until 2014.
- Rural and Remote Engagement Strategy - provides eligible students studying a Children's Services qualification in rural and remote areas with access to a remote support teacher, additional face-to-face support, library facilities and resources.
- Indigenous Remote Area Strategy - delivers targeted and culturally appropriate training of the Certificate III, Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Children's Services qualifications to existing and new-entrant children's services educators in remote indigenous communities.
- Productivity Places Program - supports new and existing workers to undertake early childhood training or commence a traineeship and apprenticeship in children's services.
