The Early Childhood Bridging Program enables degree qualified primary teachers who hold full or provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers to work in licensed early childhood services.
Fully registered primary teachers are able to deliver an approved kindergarten program under the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme while they are undertaking the Bridging Program. However, provisionally registered teachers can only commence working as an early childhood teacher delivering an approved kindergarten program once they have completed the Bridging Program.
The Bridging Program is based on the current Children's Services qualifications in the CHC08 Community Services training package.
This program can be undertaken externally and completed through self-paced and flexible study modes. Most participants complete the Program in approximately 6-9 months (guide only).
Tuition fees are waived until 2014 and on completion of study students gain a Certificate III in Children's Services and a Diploma of Children's Services. Participants may opt to continue studying to attain an Advanced Diploma.
