Family Day Care Training Strategy

Under the National Quality Framework, from 2014 all family day care educators will be required to hold or be studying towards a minimum of a Certificate III qualification.

According to the recently released National ECEC Workforce Census 2010, the Queensland family day care sub-sector is one of the priority areas for qualification improvements with 55% of family day care educators holding a Certificate III qualification or higher and 28.5% studying towards a Certificate III or higher.

It is for this reason the Queensland Government has introduced the Family Day Care Training Strategy as a key initiative under the ECEC Workforce Action Plan 2011-14.

This Training Strategy will provide eligible family day care educators with up to five fee-waived units of recognition of prior learning towards a Certificate III in Children's Services at a TAFE Institute of their choice.

Interested applicants contact the Department of Education and Training on 1800 441 141 or fill out the attached Validation Form Adobe PDF document 99k and send to the address enclosed.

For further information on this Strategy, including eligibility please see the attached Fact Sheet Adobe PDF document 304k.
