Health Care Card and Low Socio-Economic Subsidy examples
The Health Care Card subsidy amount is adjusted to take account of the Low Socio-Economic subsidy entitlement for each service. Some examples are as follows:
Kindergarten - SEIFA 1 to 2 areas

Kindergarten services operating in SEIFA 1 and 2 areas are eligible for the Low Socio-Economic subsidy (45%) equating to $1057.50 per child per annum.

Health Care Card holders are eligible for the Health Care Card subsidy of up to $1542.50 per child per annum. The total benefit for a Health Care Card holder is up to $2600 ($1057.50 + $1542.50) per child per annum.
Kindergarten - SEIFA 3 to 4 areas

Kindergarten services operating in SEIFA 3 and 4 areas are eligible for the Low Socio-Economic subsidy (30%) equating to $705 per eligible child per annum.

Health Care Card holders are eligible for the Health Care Card subsidy of up to $1895 per child per annum. The total benefit for a Health Care Card holder is up to $2600 ($705 + $1895) per child per annum.
Kindergarten - SEIFA 5 to 10 areas

Kindergarten services operating in SEIFA 5 to 10 areas are not eligible for the Low Socio-Economic subsidy.

Health Care Card holders are eligible for the Health Care Card subsidy of up to $2600 per child per annum.
Long Day Care - SEIFA 1 to 2 areas

Long Day Care services operating SEIFA 1 and 2 areas are eligible for the Low Socio-Economic subsidy (25%) equating to $346.50 per eligible child per annum.

Health Care Card holders are eligible for the Health Care Card subsidy of up to $695.50 per child per annum. The total benefit for a Health Care Card holder is up to $1042 ($346.50 + $695.50) per child per annum.
Long Day Care - SEIFA 3 to 10 areas

Long Day Care services operating in SEIFA 3 to 10 areas are not eligible for the Low Socio-Economic subsidy.
