

Approved kindergarten program providers are required to deliver learning programs that align with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline or another kindergarten learning program accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority.
The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline builds on the Early Years Learning Framework
, the national framework that guides early childhood educators working with children from birth to five years.
The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline aims to maximise learning outcomes for children who participate in kindergarten programs in Queensland, providing specific advice to teachers about the development of kindergarten programs and monitoring of children's progress.
The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline was trialled in 27 services across a range of settings to ensure that it was adaptable to a variety of environments.
Approved by the Queensland Studies Authority in September 2010, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline took effect from January 2011.

The Queensland Studies Authority has legislative authority to accredit kindergarten learning programs developed by external organisations. Accredited kindergarten learning programs can be used by approved kindergarten program providers to guide the design and delivery of their funded kindergarten program.
Organisations can apply to the Queensland Studies Authority to have their kindergarten learning program accredited as equivalent to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. Professional development opportunities for kindergarten teachers are available through the Queensland Studies Authority
. Their workshops focus on kindergarten teachers' professional practice and informed decision making in relation to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.
