All services receiving government funding to deliver an approved kindergarten program are to use the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline or an education program accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority.

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline has been developed to ensure Queensland children have access to a high quality kindergarten program no matter where in the state, or in what setting, their kindergarten program is delivered.

Developed by the Queensland Studies Authority, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline aligns with the national Early Years Learning Framework.

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline is available free of charge on the Queensland Studies Authority's website External Link.

The transition statement is a summary of a child's learning across the kindergarten year written using positive plain language that parents and carers can easily understand.

The statement recognises that children's learning is fluid and is impacted by their changing circumstances including the transition to a new setting with different expectations, new adults and new groups of children.

The transition statement is a 'snapshot in time' that describes each child's motivations, strengths and skills, understandings and approaches to learning. Parents can use the transition statement to inform their conversations with school administrators or Prep teachers.

The transition statement is a component of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline designed to promote continuity of learning for children as they move into the schooling sector.

One of the eligibility criteria for approved kindergarten program providers is to use the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline or other kindergarten learning guideline accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority to inform development of the kindergarten program.

It is a requirement for all approved kindergarten program providers using the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline to complete transition statements for children participating in an approved kindergarten program.

Services using another Queensland Studies Authority accredited kindergarten learning guideline are to follow the sharing information requirements stipulated in that learning guideline.

All approved kindergarten program providers are to use the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline or other kindergarten learning guideline accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority.
