The introduction of the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme marks a period of change for community kindergarten services previously in receipt of funding from the Department of Education and Training.
To support legacy-funded community kindergarten services to transition to the new Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme, the then Minister for Education and Training, the Hon. Geoff Wilson confirmed a number of transition arrangements in August 2010.
In addition to the Queensland Government's guarantee that all services will receive no less funding in 2011 than they received in 2010, indexation will apply from July 2011 and continue to January 2014.
An information and advisory service, including a hotline and online forum, has also been established to provide support to legacy-funded services. The online forum enables services to access information and share their experiences and ideas as they work towards meeting the requirements of the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme. To apply for access to the online forum, please email your name, position at the kindergarten service, the name of the kindergarten service and your email address to Kindy project room.
For further information on the transition arrangements please call the kindergarten hotline 1800 4 KINDY (1800 454 639).
