National Regulations are made

The Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs has officially made the Education and Care Services National Regulations (National Regulations), ensuring new legislation for the early childhood sector will begin on 1 January 2012.

Only minor tweaks were made to the approved version released on 14 October 2012 to transitional arrangements by most states, with two extra transitional provisions added for Queensland, including:

Both of these provisions are designed to ensure that current Queensland qualifications will be recognised in a transitional way from 2012, should ACECQA s new approved qualifications list not directly align with current Queensland practice.

The National Regulations will now be tabled in the Queensland Parliament prior to 2012.

The National Regulations can be found on the ACECQA website. We ask everyone to become familiar with the changes above as we look forward to transitioning to the National Quality Framework from 1 January 2012.

For any questions or for more information, visit the ACECQA website External Link or contact your regional office.
