The Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs have approved the National Regulations for the new National Quality Framework (NQF).
Underpinned by the new National Law
, the National Regulations will together set new National Quality Standards
for long day care, family day care, outside school hours care and kindergarten services across Australia from 1 January 2012.
The Regulations provide details about application processes and approvals, minimum requirements relating to the operation of education and care services, the process for the rating and assessment of services and transitional arrangements to move existing services to the new system.
The development of the Regulations has been a collaborative process drawing on the experiences and knowledge of stakeholder representatives and all states and territories and the Australian Government to reflect both a continuing focus on outcomes for children and the need for reduced regulatory burden for services.
Information Sessions are being held around Queensland from 17 October 2011 and bookings are essential. For more information about the Regulations, visit the National Regulations page.
