The Benevolent Society to manage new Cairns Early Years Centre

The Benevolent Society will operate the purpose-built Cairns Early Years Centre at Bentley Park College in Edmonton and its satellite services.

The Benevolent Society will receive funding of $1.8 million per year over the next three years as well as funding for one-off establishment costs of $450,000 also available.

The centre will provide Cairns children aged 0-8 years and their families with access to a range of services and programs including a 44-place kindergarten, parenting, health and family support services.

Early childhood services will start from temporary premises at Bentley Park College in late 2010, with services at satellite locations from early 2011. The purpose-built facility at Bentley Park College will be constructed in 2011.

The Benevolent Society already operates the Browns Plains and North Gold Coast Early Years Centres, with one other centre located at Caboolture.
