Kindergarten program fees

Approved kindergarten program providers charge parents fees, and often fundraise to complement the funding they receive from the Queensland Government.

Kindy fees are set by individual services and will be displayed at their premises and on their website. Look for the Funded Kindergarten Program Statement of Fees which will include the service's fee structure and inclusions.

Contact your kindergarten program provider directly for more information about their fees.

Long day care services offering approved kindergarten programs

A child's participation in a kindergarten program at a long day care service will not affect a family's eligibility for the Australian Government's Child Care Benefit and/or Child Care Rebate. Parents should expect to pay the same for their child's care whether or not they are participating in a kindergarten program.

For more information visit the Family Assistance Office website External Link or phone the Childcare Access Hotline on 1800 670 305.

Lower fees for Health Care Card holders

Low- or no-cost kindergarten is available for low-income families, regardless of where their child attends a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program. The subsidy can be claimed when a family, including foster carers, or a kindy-aged child holds a current Health Care Card or Australian Government Pension Concession card with automatic Health Care Card entitlements. Families should present their current Health Care Card or equivalent or formal communication such as a letter from the relevant agency stating the intention to issue a Health Care Card to their program provider to claim their entitlement. Once the Health Care Card is sighted, the service will keep a copy.

This subsidy is provided to the service to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for eligible families.

For more information about eligibility for concession and Health Care Cards, visit Centrelink's website External Link.

Lower fees for triplets or more

Families with multiple births of three or more kindy-aged children are also eligible for the same reduced kindy costs as Health Care Card holders. Proof of date of birth for these children is required to access the subsidy.
