arterial - supporting the national education and the arts statement

Welcome to arterial - your gateway to the many arts programs and professional development opportunities within the Department of Education and Training in partnership with Arts Queensland.

This site has been designed to give Queensland teachers easy 'one-stop-shop' access to programs which foster a culture of creativity, imagination and innovation.

arterial is the Queensland Government's response to the National Education and the Arts Statement (new window) Adobe PDF document. This Statement was endorsed by the Ministerial Council for Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) and the Cultural Ministers' Council (CMC) in 2007.

The National Education and the Arts Statement highlights the importance of the arts in giving students opportunities to appreciate and participate in Australia's cultural life.

The Statement outlines three key principles:

  1. All children and young people should have a high quality arts education in every phase of learning.
  2. Creating partnerships strengthens community identity and local cultures.
  3. Connecting schools with the arts and cultural sector enriches learning outcomes.

Use and enjoy the arterial site - it's your gateway to support Queensland's young people to realise their full creative potential.
