Last week the Education Minister Cameron Dick provided further details of the Raising the Bar workshops with almost 50 meetings planned across Queensland during Term 2 and 3. Each location will host three workshops' one each for local state school principals, teachers and P&C representatives to have their say on how we can continue to lift standards in our schools. The first workshops will be held in Brisbane South on May 5. The Minister said he plans to attend as many of the workshops as possible, with feedback received at the meetings to contribute towards the development of new education initiatives and policies. For more information on the workshops please contact your regional office.
This year's VET Teaching Conference will be held on 24 and 25 May at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The conference traditionally attracts up to 200 teachers, trainers, managers and support staff from TAFE Institutes and private Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Day 1 will provide an insight into how RTOs are supporting their workforce to develop solutions to meet the challenges they face in the delivery of training in an environment of constant change while Day 2 will address the importance of quality teaching learning and assessment practices in developing a highly skilled and innovative workforce through the lens of the new tertiary landscape.
